The Wind in the Trees

The Wind in the Trees

The wind in the treetops this morning is making the branches restless. I wonder if it’s telling them to get ready because cold weather is on the way. Funny–wind make me feel restless too, unsettled and a trifle uneasy.

Weather change or not, the birds and squirrels will be well-fed on sunflower seeds. It’s funny that even in winter, birds feel they must have a bath. Water is an essential, as much as food. These tiny fluffs of creation use a lot of energy and require constant re-fueling.

The wind is blowing a storm and another mystery into the fourth Ned McNeil cozy. The working title may be Murder by Moonlight. What do you think? Should I keep searching for other titles?  Yesterday, Ned talks with an elderly school secretary about Marvie Saunders, the woman whose husband was murdered fifty years before. To add to the weirdness of the day, she gets a strange visit from Daisy, her part-time boss, then Pat finds a clue they had over-looked. Although Ned decides she won’t get involved, she is wavering.

And, the wind keeps blowing and saying, Get ready. A change is coming. Just as it is this morning.
