What Happened?

What Happened?

This morning, it’s thirty degrees! Can you believe it? Wasn’t it just yesterday that we were having summer? What happened? It’s a mystery.

Seasons change so quickly–or, maybe I just don’t realize they are creeping up on me. Like the years. Then, I look around and, wow! How’d this happen?

I actually lit my fireplace. It looks homey and warm and it feels good too. This kind of weather makes me think of picking apples, getting food stored away, and preparing for winter. I wonder if the squirrels are hiding acorns. Do they really have a goodly store in their nests or in a hole in a tree? Or, do they just bury their winter food supply in the ground?

The maple outside my window has been telling me that summer’s over. It has been changing color for days. With the sun shining on it, it resembles a golden light in the front yard.

I hope your day is warm and snug, safe and well. Enjoy it. Before long, this lovely fall weather will turn even colder. Winter is coming!
