Through the Morning Mist

Through the Morning Mist

Cooler weather! Ah, how nice. Sure enough, yesterday, we had another really hard rain. I hope that everyone who needs rain is getting it, especially in California.

The morning is very still, dark, and, somewhere out back, a dove is calling. He’s pretty insistent. But, a lot of the birds I heard in the spring are silent; they must be busy with their nests and feeding their babies.

One more tidbit about the promotional for Moonlight Can Be Murder: my publishers, Pen-L, said that 2,277 copies went out to these countries: USA, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Canada, India, and France. Isn’t that exciting? Ned is a world traveler! I hope each person enjoys this cozy. Books are many things: friends, entertainment, distraction, vacations, companions, and they are connections with other people. They build bridges spanning continents, age, and lifestyles.

Today is the birthday of a very special someone in my life and we will celebrate tonight. Today and each day should be a celebration of those we love, shouldn’t it? Friends and families are blessings and each day with them is a gift that we should appreciate.

Nemo goes back to his veterinarian for a check-up on that bothersome foot. I hope there is help on the way. Even though he wears that tiresome cone, he has found a way to connect with his foot and chew or lick on it. Keep a bandage on it? Forget it! He takes off even the best-wrapped bandage in no time flat.

But, Nemo has taught me a lot of valuable things: love whole-heartedly, awake each day with no worries from yesterday (except for that miserable foot) accept things as they are, don’t worry, rest whenever possible, forgive with a friendly slurp and a hearty tail wag, defend against all marauders, rise to whatever the occasion demands, and never forget that squirrels are not to be trusted.
