On a Damp, Dark Morning as the Year Fades

This is a damp, dark morning as the year fades into memory. Do you ever wake up in the morning with a song on your mind for no apparent reason? This morning, I woke up with You’ll Never Know, a 1943 song, running through my head. It’s a very pretty love song, but what that has to do with year’s end, I’ll never know.

The rain is a lullaby this morning, a good way to end a year, tucking it away. My hope and prayer is that each of us has a wonderful new year, full of hope, good health, and joy. A good Scripture to start the year is Isaiah 61.

Much has been written about telling 2018 good-bye. Lots of good things happened, and I prefer to think on those things. I like to look forward to a new year, a new calendar, a fresh start, and hope for lots of happy, pleasant, positive things. People are what make a year important. It really isn’t success with writing or a healthy bank account. It’s the people I hold dear.

Here’s a toast to the old year and the new. Here’s hoping for lots of successes for all you authors out there and lots of pleasant hours spent within the pages of books for all you wonderful readers. And, here’s to the 2019 debut of a brand new Ned McNeil book, Moonstruck and Murderous. May it find a lodging place in the hearts of those who love cozy mysteries.
