Change Keeps Happening All Around

Change Keeps Happening All Around

Somewhere in the darkness of early morning, a dove calls. The birds are much quieter now than they were this spring. My flowers are a little bit tired. Even without looking at the calendar, I would know that summer is winding down and fall is coming on. Where has the summer gone? What did I do this summer?

Do you ever feel that time is passing in such a whirl that you want to reach out and grab it and tell it to slow down for a bit until you can catch your breath? Change. Changes all around us. And I’m running and never catching up.

Is this why we hold onto things that don’t change? Is this why I like antique furniture and antique cars? They remind me of a time past, a time that maybe was more familiar or with which I was more comfortable?

It’s good that some things don’t change. History has happened. It will not change. Books have been written. Some have been around for many years. Love has always been here and I suspect it always will be here. So, I’ll just hold onto the good things, the old, tried and true things, and when change happens, I’ll take a look at it, evaluate it, notice where it came from and where it seems to be going.

People have always loved to read and I doubt that will change. I’m glad. May your Wednesday be a happy one. If you should encounter a mystery or two, may they be cozy and change your day for the better.
