Whippoorwill Winter?

Whippoorwill Winter?

The maple leaves are as large as a rabbit’s ears; flowers are blooming, but, you know what? We have freezing temperatures, in the upper 20s and a possibility of snow on the way. In the early spring, we have periods of reverting to cold weather, called by various lovely names. Whippoorwill winter? Blackberry winter? Someone said she’d heard a whippoorwill, so that’s good enough for me.

I look on it as Cozy Mystery Winter. This is another splendid chance to get all snug and comfortable by the fireplace with a cup of coffee and a favorite story. Mysteries are good all year round, but there’s something about a cold snap when going out seems a bit premature that makes a good mystery too attractive to resist.

Ned, Darcy, and Flora are all in favor of this. So, grab an afghan, get all comfy, and enjoy their adventures during this Cozy Mystery Winter.
