Splintered Thoughts

Splintered Thoughts

Do you ever experience a certain tune running through your head and it not only runs through, but it stops and stays a while? I do, quite often. Music has always been a big part of my life and it continues to be, from way, way back to earliest memories. I’ve always thought that what a child learns when he’s young stays with him and I’m proof that it’s true. Music has stayed with me.

I learned simple little choruses as a child, words and music, because I was often called upon to play them and memorize them, at church, Sunday School, VBS. Many times, those remembered tunes and words help me through the day, even now so many, many years later.

This morning, the little chorus, I Am Determined kept going through my head. I sat down at the piano and played it and, in my thoughts, sang it as I did decades ago: I am determined, I’ve made up my mind, I’ll serve the Lord. Leaving this world and its treasures behind, I’ll serve the Lord. I’ll goeth wherever He leadeth; I’ll pasture wherever He feedeth. I am determined, I’ve made up my mind–I’ll serve the Lord.

Those are a few of my splintered thoughts this morning. How about you? Does a remembered song or poem or words help you through each day?
