From Sharon Rose Mierke

Sharon is my Canadian friend and a fellow writer. She is a published writer, many times over.  I’ve read a number of her books and, let me tell you, they are worthwhile reading. Amusing, entertaining, and well-written are adjectives that apply to Sharon Rose’s writing.

Blog: A shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies.

Several years ago, a friend of mine mentioned to me that she was blogging. I was shocked. I had never heard the word so my first thoughts were of my friend rowing on a log on a dirty old swamp somewhere in Louisiana. Of course, I have come to understand the true meaning since then and have come to appreciate blogs, bloggers, and blogging. Not only that, I realize now that blogs are not to be trivialized. After all, how many of us could sit down, day after day, write about ourselves, or our life, and make it interesting? How many of us could make the day-to-day mundane activities of life exciting enough that some stranger would want to read our blog first thing in the morning with his or her first cup of coffee? I hate to admit it but mine might have the power to turn someone right off coffee!

Then, several months ago, I received an invitation to subscribe to Blanche Manos’ blog. I subscribed, thinking that probably after a month or two, she would move on to something else. After all, didn’t she have books to write? How could anyone spend precious hours writing a blog and try to write cozy mysteries at the same time? Did she have more hours in the day than I did?

Well, surprise, surprise! I became hooked on a blog. I didn’t have to wonder, ‘what is Blanche doing today?’ –  all I had to do was read her blog. Hmmm, what was the weather like in Blanche’s part of the world? What were her writing friends discussing around the old table? You felt as if you were invited right into her home.

What a lovely way to start the morning with my first cup of coffee.

I’m sure no one is interested in my boring life but perhaps someone might find my fiction interesting:
