It May Be a Dark and Stormy Night

It May Be a Dark and Stormy Night

The little lost owl is found! It’s an answer to prayer.  I should have realized that this owl, who likes dark places and has wonderful night vision, might be hiding in a place where it felt at ease. That’s where I found it at last–under some sweaters and against the baseboard in a closet. Now, it is safely around my neck once more. All is well.

So far this morning, the weather is quiet, but if the weatherman is right, it’s about to change. Severe thunderstorms are in the forecast. Could it be that November is reluctant to leave and is going to throw a temper tantrum, a real hissy fit? Hopefully, it won’t get out of hand and go storming through, wreaking havoc as it goes.

November was an eventful month. It came in with All Saints’ Day and Authors’ Day. Daylight Savings Time ended, we honored Veterans’ Day, remembered Oklahoma’s statehood anniversary, and celebrated Thanksgiving. There were plenty of sad anniversaries too, but we won’t dwell on those.

So now, November is being tucked away, put back in the closet, rather like my small owl. That’s life, isn’t it–putting one thing away, making room for another? When December arrives tomorrow, it’ll bring a new month of both new and old happenings. If it is a snowy, cold, drippy month, it will be perfect for settling down with a cozy mystery. Moonlight Can Be Murder is a December mystery. It begins on the first day of December and ends with a Christmas event. In between those two days, lots of things happen and, as you might guess, some are not cozy at all, but are the kind that keep you awake at night. Oh well, that’s what makes a mystery, isn’t it?
