As Crisp As Cornflakes

Children’s books hold a lot of wisdom, information, and joy. One of my favorites is Four Puppies, A Little Golden Book. The four puzzled puppies couldn’t understand the change of seasons and weather changes. But, the friendly squirrel in the hickory tree always set them straight. In the fall, “leaves as crisp as cornflakes” covered the ground. That’s exactly what is covering my yard. Inches deep maple and oak leaves. Walking through them makes a satisfying crunch, crunch. They are as crisp as cornflakes.

People watching is fun. I can sit at my computer and gaze out my window on the world and see all types of people walk by, some walking their dogs, some just walking. This morning, a man came by with his dog on a leash, wearing a warm, fuzzy coat, shorts, and drinking a cup of coffee. Interesting.

A scattering of frost lies across rooftops. Clear and cold. Thanksgiving Day? Well, the thermometer is forecast to drop. But then, winter is coming!
