An Icy Grip

Yesterday, I buzzed here and there, getting ready for the predicted cold weather. Lawn chairs, patio table, hoses all went into the storage building and garage, outside faucets were wrapped, and bird feeders were filled.

A thunderstorm moved through around midnight, warm air protesting against frigid air crowding in. But, the cold won and this morning, temperatures keep dropping and snowflakes, riding a bitter wind, fill the air.

I like weather changes. Wouldn’t it be boring for it to be one way all the time? Only thing is, this extreme cold is going to take some mental adjustments. When streets are too slick to drive on and even stepping out the door is an exercise in courage, I have to fight cabin fever. So, on go the lights in every room and on goes the fireplace and out come the books. This may be the right time to begin reading an enticing cozy mystery series that will carry me through the coming days.

  1. Not happy with all the snow and wind and cold happening here! Neither is Buster!

    • I’m sure. Buster has the same idea I have—staying inside by a nice, warm fire is the only way to handle frigid weather.

  2. Same with us. Stay Cozy!

    • Yes, I’m inside looking out, Kimberly. The wind doesn’t help matters and I don’t think it’s supposed to get better any time soon. You all stay safe and warm too.
