A Pseudo Spring

A woodpecker moves up and down the maple tree, pecking at a breakfast of–what? Tiny insects? My neighbor’s tulip tree is about to flower. Jonquils and hyacinths are blooming. It looks like spring is here early this year. But, wait! What’s this I hear about Tuesday night and Wednesday? Just so we don’t get too comfortable, a cold front is moving in Tuesday night. Thunderstorms are a possibility and, behind this surge of storms is–you guessed it–a freeze! It looks like March will be coming in like a lion which may be a good thing, if the old saying holds true and it goes out like a lamb.

Once again, it’ll be fireplace weather which, in a way, is nice. It gives me a good excuse for sipping hot chocolate and reading cozy mysteries. But, wait! When have I ever needed an excuse to do that? This morning, however, spring is in the air and, since I can’t change the weather, I’ll enjoy the good things about each day.
