A Nod to November

November winds sweep up the leaves of October, tidying the yard for the snows of December. November people, you have reason to celebrate. Your beautiful birthstone is the yellow or amber topaz, a symbol of honor, strength, longevity, and wisdom.  Your flower is the fragrant chrysanthemum. November’s full moon is the Beaver Moon.

Fun Old Sayings: If there’s ice in November that will bear a duck, there’ll be nothing after but sludge and muck. November is the best month in the year to cut wood. Ice in November brings mud in December.

A brand new month is like a brand new page on which to write. I hope your story for November is a happy one, with warm memories of the summer and anticipation for a crisp, new season.

  1. Our November so far is anything but tidy. lol Windy, and we got snow falling along with the leaves, snow sticking on the grass, leaves and ice and water on the sidewalks. Not a good start unless it’s part of some mystery story.

    • Oh, brrr. That does sound cold. We have sunny skies, but the temperature is chilly and the wind is blowing. Thanks for writing, Morgan. Maybe your weather is part of a mystery story. Weather is sort of mysterious anyway.
