Wicked Weather

Wicked Weather

I’ve never seen such a wicked hailstorm as there was Sunday night. It wasn’t just a gentle rattle or two, but hunks of ice that mingled with a carpet of leaves blown off trees until leaves and hail covered the ground and the street. Sara, Nemo, and I spent part of the night in the bathroom which we decided was the safest room in the house.

Across the street, lightning split my neighbor’s front yard tree. When the storm finally let up, every roof was covered in green leaves and in all the yards, layers of leaves carpeted the grass. Trees and limbs littered the ground. Thankfully, all the houses were still intact.

Last night was stormy too, but no tornadoes, thank goodness. Today, the temperature is chilly again, spring’s warmth blotted out by nature’s fury. But, that’s springtime–it’s mercurial and although it’s beautiful, it can be deadly and dangerous. It pays not to trust springtime.

So glad you are well, as we are. May that be an end to our scary storms!

    • I’m glad you all are safe too. Yes, hopefully, that’s the end of the scary storms for this season.

  2. We’ve been lucky with the weather so far. The one day they said tornadoes, winds and lots of rain all were coming our way, we got nothing. We finally did get a good soaking yesterday, but nothing horrible. I do remember days long ago when tornadoes came nearby and it was no picnic!
