The Wonderful Week That Was

The Wonderful Week That Was

The week passed in a flurry of writing, reading, exercises, visits with friends and family, and much of it was accompanied by rain.

The Cozy Critters met and left in a rainstorm. I painted a gourd, punched holes in it and put twinkle lights inside, and had a close encounter with a spider.

Some books I’ve read included Worth Forgiving by Janet K. Brown, two of the Lord Harrington mysteries by Lynn Florkiewicz, and three books by Mary Wingate: The Red Book of Primrose House, The Garden Plot, and Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

The winner of the three-day contest for the first three Darcy and Flora ebooks, The Cemetery Club, Grave Shift, and Best Left Buried was Margaret McNealy. Happy reading, Margaret.

I thought you might enjoy one of Flora’s favorite Butter Cookies recipes to start your brand-new week:

1 3/4 Cups of flour                   1/2 Cup of sugar

l/2 tsp. baking powder            1 small egg, beaten

2/3 Cup of soft butter              1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg and vanilla. A little at a time, add flour and baking powder. Drop by spoonfuls or a small ice cream scoop onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a pre-warmed oven at 400 degrees until cookies are a delicate brown.

Tomorrow is a Red-Letter day, the release date for the fourth Darcy and Flora cozy mystery, Grave Heritage. 002I believe this is my favorite of the four books and I hope you feel that way too.
