That Funny Feeling

Here’s a real life mystery: Do you ever get a certain feeling when you are in a certain place? I don’t mean anything extra-worldly or shivery. Nothing like that, but a definite feeling about wherever you are. For instance, when I walk into my grandchildren’s room, I get the feeling of gladness, sort of like sunshine and a bit of joy.

Going into an empty house, I sometimes get a feeling of sadness or peace or happiness. I think it may depend on who lived there, leaving a bit behind them.

Standing on a Civil War battlefield, I can almost hear the boom of cannons and feel the fear and courage and anger. It’s just something I pick up on and I’m pretty sure you do too. It isn’t any special ability nor is it uncanny or have anything to do with ESP. No omens or dark or evil thoughts come into play. It’s just that perhaps an aura is left behind from people or events.

These are my wandering thoughts this morning, for what they’re worth. I don’t think I’m special in feeling these things. I imagine you do too.

  1. When I look at the mailbox, I get a sense of anticipation. I’m always curious about what might appear there. Often it’s just junk mail or bills. But sometimes it’s a card from a friend or even a menu or coupon from a favorite restaurant.
