Is there anything more peaceful than a sun-dappled back yard on a quiet Sunday morning? With all the turmoil going on in my own country and around the world, I realize how very fortunate and blessed I am to be able to sit on my deck and revel in the peace of the Lord’s Day. In the distance, a cardinal calls. A breeze blows a tantalizing fragrance from the herb garden. My dog busily runs through the grass, nose to ground, sniffing the scents of the small animals who dared trespass on his domain during the night. I tried to take a picture of a garden spider, but he turned out to be a golden blur in the photo because the wind kept blowing his web. I wonder if the early morning and twilight are special times because the Lord God walked in the Garden of Eden during the cool of the day, and somewhere, mostly hidden in our DNA is a subconscious memory. Whatever the reason, early mornings are very special to me.
