Scattered Thoughts

Scattered Thoughts

This morning, the world is green and peaceful. Birds are busy looking for bugs. A squirrel chases a bluejay up the maple tree. Sunlight warms treetops. Nature is at rest this morning. Yesterday, parts of Arkansas south of here and parts of Oklahoma were bombarded with giant-sized hailstones which did a lot of damage. All we got was a brief smattering of rain.

I’m hearing more about AI, Artificial Intelligence. It is now being used by unscrupulous people in “spoofing”, where a caller pretends to be a loved one, using the AI voice which sounds exactly like the loved one, begging for money. Evil people preying on others. Would you say that we are getting too smart for our own good? It’s a scary, unknown world (to me, at least) that we find ourselves in.

I could sermonize that since a good part of our country has decided to leave God out of their lives and out of our government, He has left us up to our own devices. But, I won’t sermonize, because I’m sure many people would object and disagree. There’s nothing more impenetrable than a closed mind and that is a scary thought.

This spring, we’ve had plenty of rain. But now, we are in need of more. I put out water for birds and water the little apple tree each day, but watering can’t really take the place of actual rain. Nevertheless, flowers are blooming and trees have, once again, leafed out in gorgeous, fresh greens. Seasons change and the earth keeps spinning.

A surprise visitor lights on the crepe myrtle by the corner of the house. It’s a brown thrasher. He’s the state bird of Georgia and a mimic bird. He doesn’t have as large a repertoire as the mockingbird, but I’m always glad to hear and see him. He’s shy and sometimes the only way I know he’s in the back yard is to see leaves flying as he scratches for bugs. So, it’s a treat to see him so near the house.

Keep believing and hoping and finding the lovely things in life. It’s a beautiful morning.
