The Mystery of Moonbeams

The Mystery of Moonbeams

Last night, no clouds marred the beauty of that majestic full moon. Wasn’t it lovely! Fortunately, I was able to get a pretty good picture, different from my usual moon shots. Maybe this would be a good cover picture for Moonlight Can Be Murder.

Speaking of this upcoming fourth book, the first in a new series, let me say that first readers are invaluable. I’ve gotten pointers, suggestions, and ideas from each of these friends: Dawn, Lola, Peg, Judy. I do appreciate their input and today will be incorporating much of it. The brain is a funny thing. The writer (me) knows what she wants to say, but sometimes the fingers don’t cooperate. And then, on re-reading, once again, the brain sees what the writer meant to say, not what is actually there on the page. That’s why first readers and editors are so important. Besides this, it’s always interesting to me to hear what my readers would like to see in the book, a little more romance, a clarification here or there.

Fiction often mimics life. We have different points of view, see things differently. I’ve heard that eye-witness accounts in court are not all that reliable because two people can see the same thing but tell entirely different stories about it.

Did anyone feel an extra gravitational pull from that amazing moon? Any tendencies to go out and howl? How about feeling a little fidgety or  a yearning to prowl through the woods? Or did you just admire the lovely evening and thank the good Lord for painting a gorgeous masterpiece across the midnight sky?
