Lightning, Thunder, Hail

Lightning, Thunder, Hail

Yesterday afternoon, we got a good, old-fashioned thunderstorm with rain! We even had a sprinkling of hail–not much, thank goodness. I’m so grateful and so are the grass and flowers. The roadside ditch where the children used to race their boats right after a rain, was a turbulent little stream. Trees were swaying, my little potted evergreen blew over, and I’ve probably got a yard full of small twigs again.

What is there about a thunderstorm that revives, not only the earth, but my spirits? Whatever it is, I like it!

I guess that, without dry spells, we wouldn’t really appreciate rain, would we? We are funny people–not enough rain, we worry, too much rain, we worry. Come to think of it, we’re pretty resilient too and adapt to situations that aren’t always perfect. That’s a good thing!

Lightning, wind, rain are a good setting for writing a mystery, or for reading one! Any kind of weather is good for a cozy trip into the intriguing world of Ned McNeil or Darcy and her mom Flora. Weather plays an important part in each adventure–weather and coffee. Lightning, thunder, hail, coffee, and a good mystery–the ingredients for a perfect day!
