It Wasn’ His Fault

It Wasn’ His Fault

Is the past really the past or does it reappear now and then? I saw one of my old college professors the other day, even though he has been dead a good number of years. Now, before you think I’ve gone completely round the bend, let me explain. Actually, I didn’t see him but I saw someone who reminded me of the long ago prof. He didn’t particularly look like him but his mannerisms and his way of speaking were similar to the teacher I mentioned. When he spoke, he seemed intense, short-tempered, tightly wound and inpatient. Aha! I thought. I believe I’ve met you before, when you stood at the front of a classroom.

Personality traits are funny things. People share certain characteristics or viewpoints, likes and dislikes. Even the way we stand or walk or a weird sense of humor may be similar to somebody else’s, somewhere.

Getting back to that old professor. Personality types from another time, another place reappear now and then. It’s fun to study them, recognize them and use them, names changed, in a cozy mystery!

Thought for the day: God sees beyond our horizons.

  1. True. You never know how it happens that someone can remind you of another person from long ago. That can be a good or bad thing.

  2. Yes. Kind of deja vu. My sister says she wonders if souls are recycled, because everything else is. Obviously a thought provoking read. 😉

  3. Susan Bernhardt says

I’ve had this happen with someone resembling my father and my brother-in-law, both deceased.
