Houses and Homes

Houses and Homes

God bless the corners of this house. This is part of an Irish blessing on a home. May your home be the place, a sanctuary of everlasting peace, begins a Jewish blessing. May the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon your house. May the Great Spirit bless all who enter there. May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows, and may the rainbow always touch your shoulder. This is a lovely Cherokee blessing. Something wonderful happens when a house becomes a home. It becomes a dwelling in which a person or a family should feel secure and at peace. If love lives there, it doesn’t matter whether the house is a mansion or a hut.

A house is just four walls. The people who live within give the house its aura of peace and welcome. A house is just a house, but a home is built with love and caring. It’s a refuge in storms, a safe place, a place where the welcome mat is always out, inviting its people to come within and rest.
