Coffee From the Pot Is Hot

Coffee From the Pot Is Hot

February, the month of groundhogs, Valentines, Presidents, critiques, and hot coffee! This morning, I brought out, from the depths of my cabinet, my good old yellow coffee pot that is all of fifty years old.

Old Yellow Coffee Pot

My much newer coffee maker is leaking around the edges at times, so I thought I’d see if the old percolator was still–um–percolating. It is. It does a beautiful job. Only thing, when the coffee comes out of the spout, it is not only hot, it is H-O-T. (with sizzle marks) I do enjoy the happy sound of perking.

This is the yellow coffee pot which appears in all of the Darcy and Flora books. In these cozy mysteries, it is Flora’s and she uses it every morning and, usually, several times throughout the day. So, my good old yellow coffee pot will never die. It will live forever in print, even if one day it decides to retire in actuality.

The Cozy Critters will be here today and I can hardly wait to hear and see what has been going on in their busy lives. The flu bug bit Carolyn, so she will be home tucked up in bed. We’ll miss her, but want her to get well quickly. That’s the important thing. And, Nancy may bringĀ a guest. So, that’ll be nice. Who knows? The guest may decide to make the critique a regular habit and become another Critter.

February is a short month but it is an interesting month. The Farmer’s Almanac has quite a bit to say about February. Here’s one of the old sayings I found:

For as the sun shines on Candlemas Day,
So far the snow will swirl until May;
For as the snow blows on Candlemas Day,
So far will the sun shine before May.

Candlemas Day is on February 2.

February is the perfect month for cozy mysteries. Thanks so my Canadian friends for being fans of Darcy, Flora, and Ned. Thanks also to those of you who are deciding listening to a cozy mystery is just as much fun as reading it. The audio versions are quite popular.

The beginning of a new month is sort of like sitting down with a pencil and a blank sheet of paper. It is an opportunity to write many wonderful things. So, happy writing, happy reading and happy February!
