The Artistic Advance of Autumn

The Artistic Advance of Autumn

“Hear ye, hear ye! Summer has passed and autumn is here!” If I were a town crier, this would be my news this morning. Or, since I would be a crier with literary leanings, I might shout, “Autumn is here! Autumn books abound! Get yours today!”

One of those books, available only since Monday, is Grave Heritage, a Darcy and Flora cozy mystery.003 I am always interested to read reviews written by readers. Here is one of the first ones:

Grave Heritage starts off with a bang. In the middle of the night, during a raging thunder storm, someone pounds on Darcy and Flora’s front door. They let in a soaked, bedraggled older man who takes a long hard look at Flora, turns and flees back out into the storm. Darcy stumbles across the same man the next day and he is dead. Lots of action ensues as Darcy and Flora attempt to discover the identity of the stranger, why he ran from Flora, and how his past intertwines with their present.

Blanche is a master of descriptive prose, whether it be of the terror of fleeing a raging river, the beauty of the Oklahoma countryside or the unique characters of the people Darcy and Flora meet.

A well written, page turner of a mystery that keeps you wanting to know more of Darcy and Flora’s saga.

Thank you to “Loves Mysteries”, the pen name for the writer of the review. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

Feeling sort of reminiscent, I dug out my Readers’ Digest Songs of the Fifties last week and leafed through. I had forgotten how pretty many of those songs were.002 There, in front of me was “Autumn Leaves.” I’ve been enjoying playing it again. It’s a bit sad, a bit poignant, but altogether lovely.

I hope your first day of autumn is brilliant with love and laughter, and an optimistic looking forward to a brand-new season, one of the most thoughtful seasons of the year.
