Among Green, Growing Things

Among Green, Growing Things

Yesterday, I worked in my front flower garden, pulling out tiny maple sprouts, checking to see if any wildflowers are poking through the ground. So far, one lone zinnia. I wonder why more haven’t come up? I planted a lot of heirloom seeds.

The squash plant is doing great, blooming, looking healthy. I hope it continues. A few sprigs of English ivy have been relocated to my statuary. Hopefully, they’ll take root and grow. The herbs look good except the lemon thyme which, for some reason, succumbed.

My grape vine keeps growing and climbing, reaching up with delicate runners to attach to a wood frame. And, in the back yard, the apple tree is putting out leaves. May it continue its healthy growth.

The morning is young and so is spring. I’m afraid that I’m not, but at this time of year, when I get out among the flowers, I tend to forget that small fact of nature.
