I Wonder Why

Sometimes, I try to figure people out. Do you? I wonder why somebody said or did something, especially something troubling. Do you know anybody who really likes to make you feel guilty about something you may or may not have said or done?

I’ll admit to being an armchair psychologist at times. It’s fun up to a certain point, until I realize my thoughts start going in negative circles.

We all like to be around people who bring out the best in us, those positive people who overlook our faults and zero in on the good in our characters. And, there are people like that in this world–people who just love us (or like us) and tend to overlook our faults, or at least, not mention them.

Teachers and parents know that children react more positively when they are praised for what they can do, not belittled for things they cannot do. A positive self-image goes a long way toward success in life. The same could be said for adults. We don’t like to be reminded of our faults, whether they are real or imagined.

Anyway, I am sometimes perplexed by what someone says or does that is hurtful and I try to figure out the reason behind it. Do you ever do that too?
