Boxing Day

This is Boxing Day in some countries, a day to give gifts to those in service of others. It’s also St. Stephen’s Day, the first Christian martyr.   Boxing Day was a tradition, and today we have our own traditions. I like the repetition and comfort of those practices my family keeps alive from year to year. The best tradition of all is the one of being together. It’s a comfort. As we give and receive gifts, these are just tokens of the love that we give and receive throughout the year.   Christmas 2022 is past, a time of gratitude, reflection, and worship. It is a time to bundle up the year with its good and bad, its highs and lows, ask God to forgive mistakes and errors of the year, thank Him for His many blessings, and look forward to 2023, with hope and faith in the One who is Lord of us all.
