A Pet Rat?

Let me tell you about a goofy dream. Do you dream after you go to sleep or are you one of those rare people who doesn’t dream or who doesn’t remember them?

Anyway, there I was in my living room and there was a rodent under the sofa. Finally, I was able to capture it and it didn’t seem to be afraid of me. It looked like a rat but it was brown and white. So, I determined it was someone’s pet rat which had gotten lost and had somehow gotten into my house. Why did I dream such a crazy dream, unrelated to anything that had happened in real life?

Speaking of dreams, the second Ned McNeil cozy mystery, By the Fright of the Silvery Moon, opens with Ned’s dream, or rather, a nightmare. And, actually, this dream is an inkling of the things that are about to happen in Ned’s life and, in Ned’s case, they are just as scary as her dream.

So glad it was a friendly rat and not a scary one! They do make good pets, I hear.

  2. Great idea to foreshadow with a dream in your book. As far as dreams go, I get some, but usually forget what they were about.
