Wandering through an antique shop, I found a copy of a Woman’s World magazine, December 1918. How times have changed in a hundred years! The magazine reflected the country’s need for being frugal and saving. There were tips for sewing and cooking and advertisements for home remedies. Particularly interesting were the ads for medicines that long ago went by the wayside.
Women’s and girls’ fashions have changed since those days 107 years ago. In 1918, this was what a well-dressed little girl was wearing. Notice her button-up-the-side shoes.
Looking through this magazine was a glimpse into a time that my parents and grandparents were familiar with. It was a relaxing trip into history and a nice break from the problems of today.
