Once again, we have storm watches out. Nemo doesn’t know about the weather news, but he does know the weather and it makes him nervous. It’s raining a bit, but more is predicted. The sky is dark and trees are very still, as if waiting. But, that’s springtime–in winter, it’s snow and ice; in spring, it’s storms. So, we have to be watchful and not worry about any of it. Concerned, yes; worried, no.
Yesterday was a good day, getting a lot done. I have several trees in the yard and those trees drop limbs and sticks so that I’ll get some exercise by picking them up. That’s what I did–picked them up. Nemo loves for me to be out with him, so he did the best he could to help, which wasn’t a whole lot. But, you know what? I’m thankful for the trees and the yard and the birds who enjoy it with me.
A funny and neat thing yesterday. I looked out my kitchen window just as a cardinal landed on the window ledge. He looked at me; I looked at him. It was a special moment, face to face before he took wing.
Wild violets and periwinkles are blooming. Out by the mailbox, purple phlox are doing their best. Trees are wearing a delicate shade of green, and the grass has already been mowed once. So, the storm? It does bring rain and it’s an essential part of springtime.
