When the Storms Roll In

When the storms roll in, it’s good to be anchored tightly and securely to something that will not move. I see a tropical storm is headed toward the Gulf Coast. I imagine that coast has weathered countless waves that battered it and winds that tore through it.

In life too, we have storms that jolt and shove, trying to uproot core beliefs, trying to take away landmarks and rearrange all things that are familiar. At such times as these, we’d better have strong roots of deep belief and sure understandings or we’ll be dashed into pieces, fragmented.

Quite frankly, I am appalled at whatever or whoever is trying to erase our history, tearing down beliefs that stood us in good stead for centuries. Suddenly, all that is wrong and we who have believed these things are wrong too.

When storms come, it’s good to have an anchor. It’s good to know what we believe, why we believe it and have a tight grip.
