Welcome to the World

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. ——

Today, I want to salute all the babies of this world, the tiny newborns, the helpless, innocent lives brought into the world through no action of their own. I want to celebrate the future scientists, housewives, mothers, fathers, mathematicians, computer whizzes, writers, politicians, teachers, doctors, nurses, street workers, policemen. You are the hope of mankind. 

In the United States of America, the right to life is guaranteed to every person. This right comes, not from the government, but from God. 

“We have been given the precious gift of human life, made more precious still by our births in or pilgrimages to a land of freedom. It is fitting, then, on the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that struck down State anti-abortion laws, that we reflect anew on these blessings, and on our corresponding responsibility to guard with care the lives and freedoms of even the weakest of our fellow human beings.”– President Ronald Reagan.

“For thou hast possessed my reins; thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:13-16).

Each of us is made in God’s image. Each baby is born into this world in complete innocence and with a host of possibilities. Each child has something to teach us, the adults. He or she is unique and wonderful and is a miracle that we hold in our arms for a short while until, all too soon, that baby is grown and stepping out to take his or her place in the world. God, our Creator, is the only One who gives life and He should be the only One to decide when that life should end. 

It is my opinion that legalizing abortion has resulted in a callousness and a disregard for human life, a turning away from Scripture, and more child abuse, more emotional upsets and mental problems. It is wrong and legalizing it doesn’t make it right.
