Those Amazing Little Pop-Ups

Those Amazing Little Pop-Ups

Yesterday afternoon, as I went to the mailbox, I glanced up the hill and there they were, white and shiny even from a distance. Several pop-up mushrooms or toadstools graced my neighbor’s yard. Of course, my trusty camera and I couldn’t pass up this chance.

For some reason, mushrooms remind me of Ireland. Why is that? It could be because of the legend of fairy rings or fantasy tales that may have originated in the Emerald Isle. Or, maybe it’s just because I think they are rather amazing.

It doesn’t seem like almost six years have passed since my visit to Ireland, but, come October, it’ll be six years. It was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, just to be there. I’ve never forgotten it and will always keep a piece of Ireland in my heart.

Just for fun, sometimes I go to earth.com and type in Dublin, Ireland, to visit via computer. It’s fun to watch people going up and down the street, some wearing jackets, some not. And, often, the streets glisten with rain. It’s a cool, rainy island.

I’ve finished another fun project, illustrating a children’s book for my niece. My sister wrote the book when my niece was just a little girl. Heather, my niece, asked me to illustrate it and I was glad to do so. Now that it’s done, I rather miss it. What a privilege to add pictures to my sister’s book.

Anyway, life is full of magical moments, like the mushroom, like Ireland, like books and pictures. They are all around you. Look for them. They’re a great deal of fun.
