The Hushed World

The Hushed World

It’s as if God has hushed the world with a blanket of white. Snow muffles sound and the only thing moving I can see are the birds, frantically pecking up sunflower seeds. All their other food is completely covered by inches of snow.

The small evergreen by the front porch wears icicles in its branches and a blanket of white around its shoulders. Tree limbs are stacked. I see some cardinals and a junco have discovered the seeds I put by the front porch. Maybe that’ll help the traffic jam on the back deck.

This is a wonderful day to stay inside and read a good book. Whatever is on your schedule, I hope you stay safe and warm.
