Sunday Coffee

Sunday Coffee

Scattered thoughts this morning–but, after all, it’s Sunday, and it’s cold, and this cup of coffee hasn’t had time, yet, to scatter the fuzziness of sleep. Yes, I over-slept!

A couple of robins are on my front lawn. Are they thinking about nest-building already? And, the jonquils by the mailbox are up and looking green. I’ve a feeling they are all a bit optimistic. It’s a long time till spring.

Yesterday, I was in the mood to bake a pie, but I had not idea what kind. So, I checked the pantry. I had apples and I had dried cranberries. I wondered how a dried cranberry/apple pie would taste? I checked the internet for a recipe, but couldn’t find one that appealed. You know, one that called for everyday ingredients I had a hand. I didn’t fancy a trip back to the store. So,  I made a two-crust pie. Cooked cranberries and apples together, added sugar, put the mixture between the crusts. I hope it’s good, but one never knows when one gets experimental.

My second cup of coffee is working its magic, and the clock is ticking, so I’d better get into the usual Sunday morning chores. I hope your day is a happy one, not too hot nor too cold.  Remember that a homemade pie is like a cozy mystery–it keeps the winter blues away.
