When the Sun Shines, It Shines for Everyone

When the Sun Shines, It Shines for Everyone

The title of this blog is a quote by Ziggy Marley. This was one of the contributions Carolyn brought to Wednesday’s meeting. She also brought a lot of other things, as you will see.

Hundred-year old table

Long before the Cozy Critters arrived, the table was set, candle lit, coffee made, candy in little serving dishes. All was in readiness for a rip roarin’ cozy critique. It had been a while since we met and we were glad to see each other–hugs, laughter, smiles.

Carolyn, Blanche, pear jelly

Carolyn brought me a jar of her homemade pear jelly. And, we all came with art or stories or poems or activities or books we’ve read. We had a lot of material to cover!

Jane, as you know, is an artist as well as a writer. She showed us a lovely painting she has done for some friends.

Jane’s work in progress

The subject was the friends’ little daughter. Superb job! She also disclosed a work-in-progress of a little girl eating an ice cream cone. Jane encountered her at Yosemite Lodge. When finished, this, too, will be an outstanding painting.

Jane has written an honor poem for a church friend, Sweet Georgina. She framed this. It is a special tribute for a special lady.

Carolyn has a knack for writing short, funny poems that are right on target. She read three of them, Late Night Courage, Another Urge of Courage, and Fruitcake. This last rhyme tells the hilarious way she collected ingredients for the fruitcake. Unforgettable.

Carolyn and her rabbit painting

She brought her oil painting of a rabbit, and another of some roses. Carolyn makes notecards of her paintings and includes these in the creations she takes to craft fairs.

Peg has been reading lots of books. She found a new author, new series. The first book is A Slice of Murder by Chris Cavender. She is enjoying a series by Sofie Kelly. One that stood out for her was A Tale of Two Kitties.

Peg and Nancy

Nancy, author of The Grace Impact, fills her days with  travel, piano lessons, writing, and being a guest speaker and blogger. She and husband Rick lately made a trip to Texas. Next, they will be traveling to North Carolina for a conference, then the last week of September, they will be Tennessee bound.

Jane

I have been a guest on several blogs since our last critique and will be a guest blogger for Southern Writers Magazine in the near future. My publisher still has my four Darcy and Flora cozies and the first Ned McNeil Moonlight book listed at 99 cents. Paperbacks are $9.99. The new book, By the Fright of the Silvery Moon, just out last month, second in the Ned McNeil series, is $4.97 and $14.97.

Jane, Nancy, Peg

We Critters talk about many things as well as reading and writing and what makes a book captivating. We are philosophers, encouragers, confidantes, and entrepreneurs. Above all else, we are friends.
