Spring’s Last Fling

Spring’s Last Fling

Do you know what today is? It’s the last day of spring 2020! Tomorrow, summer begins. So, we should celebrate, have a spring fling, throw a virtual party, or something. Me? Well, tomorrow and Sunday, I’ll celebrate summer’s arrival by offering one of the Darcy and Flora books free from Amazon! Watch for it.

I’ve yet to see any fireflies (lightning bugs). Have you? And, bees are in short supply. I saw a bumblebee the other day and felt like spreading a banquet before him, if I knew how. He was so welcome. It has been years since I’ve seen a turtle or a lizard. I don’t even see many butterflies any more or frogs. Why is that? I don’t spray my yard or flowers with insecticides. But, I guess many people do. These wonderful and essential little works of nature are disappearing. That’s sad in itself, but even worse, because when they go, I fear we go too.

The morning is quiet and still. Birds and squirrels are not having a spring fling. They are too busy feeding their babies. Our wild animals and birds continue with nature’s cycle as long as they are able. I am thankful.
