Saying Good-bye to September

Saying Good-bye to September

The last day of September. When I was a lot younger, I’d hear my parents talk about time flying, especially as they grew older. Now, I can tell you it seems that way to me too. It’s hard to believe summer is actually gone. The trees are still green, mostly, but leaves are falling. School has been in full swing for two months and summer fun is now just a memory.

Have you read about the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia? I’m afraid the death toll may climb to beyond a thousand. Such tragic pictures coming from the area.

If you haven’t read about the newest scam online, please go to my Facebook page and click on the site. This is extortion, highly illegal, and, hopefully, the perpetrators will be caught soon and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I hope no one falls for this latest way to bilk people out of their money.

Yesterday was a busy, but altogether nice day–a visit with my family, and, later, a visit with Peg over the back yard fence. A visit with my neighbor across the street as I took some children’s books to his little girl. I had gotten the books at a garage sale earlier, little animal stories about the changing seasons. Reading to children and encouraging them to love reading is one of the best things we can do for our small ones.

The reason I was in the back yard yesterday, and the front yard too, for that matter, is that I was picking up sticks that had fallen from oak and maple trees. These trees are great but they shed small twigs that litter the yard. With cool weather approaching, the yards need to be neat and ready to meet the winter, so that next spring they won’t be such a mess to clean up.

Books! Don’t you love them? Of course, my favorite genre is cozy mysteries so that’s what I read mostly, and mostly, what I write. I’ve written for children’s publications and Christian magazines, but I really enjoy writing the cozy mysteries and I hope you enjoy reading them.

This is the day the Lord has made. Let’s rejoice and be glad in it.

Cozy mysteries are where friends get together.
