My Point of View

My Point of View

Just between you, me, and the fence post, I am tired of intrigue and secret maneuvers and people pretending to be what they aren’t. It seems to me that all this running around in circles trying to figure out who one is and what one is, all this bending rules, and saying, “It all depends on the circumstance” or “It may not be right for me, but if it is for you, go for it”…all this double talk began when we started getting away from biblical precepts and believing that God is the ultimate authority.

Common sense would indicate that everybody needs some sort of framework in life that is stable, unbendable, and dependable; else, we just go whichever way the wind blows, and you just try to get a boat to a destination when it is at the mercy of a changing wind.

For me, the litmus test is Scripture. If the Bible says it’s wrong, I’d say it’s pretty much wrong. What about all the things the Bible doesn’t say? Sometimes the best answer is, I don’t know, but I believe and that in itself is my answer until the Lord makes it plain.

It has taken a number of years of observing, doing, making mistakes, set-backs, and victories to arrive where I am today. There are certain solid, bed-rock truths that don’t change. It’s like history–it is what it is and no matter how much one disagrees, it has happened and we need to learn from it, not try to change it, which is silly.  I am reminded of The Man, the Boy, and the Donkey, an Aesop fable. An ancient viewpoint with a very modern message.
