Lunch with Cozy Critters

Lunch with Cozy Critters

Nancy, Jane, Peg, and I held our critique over plates of food and coffee yesterday. Will this get to be a trend? Will we continue to meet at our friendly restaurant to discuss books, writing, speaking, and all things in between? Only time will tell.

Jane had just returned from a fascinating trip. She and her son flew to Las Vegas to see some shows. She was especially impressed with the large, animated back drops, made completely of flowers. Nancy’s Thanksgiving was a wonderful experience and she’s looking forward to several speaking engagements. Peg has been reading when she has time, in her busy life, to snatch a few moments to herself. And I experienced a first–reading aloud the first chapter of a brand-new mystery. Of course, it was only to my captive audience at the table, still…it was a first! I’m not sure that the subject matter was conducive to good digestion.

Have you ever lost something dear to you and don’t have one idea in the world when, where, or how you lost it? The first thing Jane said when she saw me yesterday was, “Where’s your owl?” If you’ll notice in my photos, I’m always wearing a little owl pendant on a silver chain. It went with me everywhere, even to Ireland. Well, sadly, on Tuesday I lost it. I didn’t realize it was gone until Wednesday morning. It was especially dear to me because it was from Sara. Will I find it? I pray so.

As November draws to a close, the weather is lovely. Tomorrow, rain may move in. Then what? I’m glad that, so far, men haven’t been able to control the weather. I hope we never do. In this life, we need a few mysteries–but only the good kind, of course. Not the heart-breaking kind, like where is my little owl pendant?
