Lots of Whys Without Answers

Tell Me Why

I wonder about lots of things. “Why” is always on the tip of my tongue. So, bear with me in this morning’s ramble. I go from absurd to serious in the blink of an eye!

One thing I’ve wondered about is the placement of garages on newer houses. About ninety-per cent of the time, the garage is on the front of the house, big, usually white, and quite obvious. Now, I’m glad to have my garage, but I think it is the most unattractive part of the house. Why do builders insist on giving it prominence and pre-eminence? The garage is the first thing I notice on a house and its purpose is strictly utilitarian, and not very pretty.

Why is patriotism out of vogue in many places? Why are we not glad and thankful to live in America? Why are we not proud of our heritage and the light of freedom we represent to many countries?003

Why did Noah allow mosquitoes on the ark?

Why do some people willingly sell their souls for prestige, power, or pleasure? Or money? Could it be they are blind?

Why do I enjoy the sound of a small airplane but a jet engine gives me the shivers?

Why do I love the sound of rain but the sound of wind makes me apprehensive?

Why do I love history and abhor the re-writing of it so that it fits the current narrative? Why cannot we have respect for courage in the face of insurmountable odds?003

Why am I so blessed by people who love me when I have done nothing at all to earn their love?

My list of “whys” goes on and on and I’m sure you have your list. Sometimes I find answers to my question and sometimes I never do. Perhaps it is all summed up in what the philosopher-king said in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14:

After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.14God is going to judge everything we do, whether good or bad, even things done in secret.
