Joy Is Where You Find It

With all the turmoil going on in the world today, sometimes we overlook simple things that bring us joy. This post was from a few years back. Admittedly, it’s about times that I was out and about; today, I don’t have that privilege. Anyway, these dark days can’t last forever, so I took a look back and thought about how I’ll enjoy similar times, when they come again.

Gladness, joy, maybe a bit of wackiness are all around us.  Enjoying the moment makes the day brighter.

Going into the church yesterday morning for the senior breakfast, I met a lady I didn’t know. We introduced ourselves. Her name was Betty.

“I’m not very good with remembering names,” she said.

“Oh, well, in that case, I’m Liz Taylor,” I said.

She grinned. “I can see the resemblance. I’m Tammy Wynette.”

“Great. Will you sing for us, Tammy?”

The nonsense ended as we went inside the church for waffles, bacon and coffee and to see a video. The food was good and so was the video of the senior group’s recent trip. I especially wanted to see the life-size replica of Noah’s Ark. Awe-inspiring.

The fun day continued as Jane and I went to Robbie’s for her first monthly luncheon since Fran moved to South Carolina. Peg arrived just as we did and later, Nancy joined us. Four of us Cozy Critters! Several other ladies increased our number to nine or ten (I didn’t really count.) Robbie’s home is lovely and adorned with original oil paintings by this talented lady. I came away with two enticing recipes from Robbie for peach cobbler and white chili. Delicious!

And, may I say I’ve made that white chili many times since. It’s delicious, easy, and a good homemade dish.
