How Much Were You Given?

I’ve been thinking, lately, about the phrase, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” This isn’t an exact quotation from the Book of Luke, but it’s the meaning. And then, I’ve been noticing people in the news who have been given much, and how they’ve used this gift. I’ve been disappointed that those in unique positions to soothe race relations, to alleviate needs with an abundance of money, or those who could further the good of mankind because they hold the reins of a lot of power, instead, seek to further disrupt or cause disharmony. And, I wonder what their goals are, what motivates them, and what do they hope to achieve as an end result.

All of us, no matter where we are in life, have been given talents. Perhaps money, perhaps an outgoing personality, perhaps the ability to sway opinions, or a gift that can be used for others. And, we all have opportunities, maybe not to influence world conditions, but to make life a little happier or better for someone. We may have a unique ability that no one else has and I wonder how we use it?

These are just my thoughts on this lovely spring morning. What are yours?
