Groundhogs and Weather

Groundhogs and Weather

It’s Groundhog Day. Punxatawney Phil didn’t see his shadow. So, according to tradition, this means an early spring. Is that an  accurate prediction? The answer remains a mystery.

It’s fun to see what the folk in Punxatawney make of waking up Phil. It was snowing as a large group, known as the Inner Circle, in top hats, made their way to the stage. Thousands of Phil’s fans were there to see the sleepy groundhog.

A silly tradition? Maybe. But, it’s fun. I like those traditions that continue year to year and are not political nor anything, except fun, and this one has been going on since 1887.

The groundhogs in NW Arkansas will see their shadows today, if they wake up and peek out. The two-legged, human weather forecasters are saying we’ll have a warm day. Is spring here already? I think not, but spring is a willful thing and likes to tease. So, she’ll tiptoe in today, take a look around, and probably leave again for another month or two. Weather is mysterious, and, as you know, I like a good mystery.
