December Welcome

December Welcome

Good morning and happy December! This is a special month and you who were born this month have a lot to celebrate. First of all, according to the Julian calendar, you were not born in the twelfth month, but the tenth. In Latin, decem means ten. But, remember, this was the Julian calendar.

You December babies have the beautiful turquoise as your birthstone and narcissus is your flower (daffodil). And, if you’re wondering which tree you can claim, it is the pine.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, there’s quite a bit of weather lore surrounding this last month of the year: rain before the first Sunday means rain for a week; thunder during Christmas week means the winter will not be meek; if St. Lucy’s Day (December 13) is bright, Christmas will be dark with snow, but if snow falls on St. Lucy’s Day, Christmas will be sunny.

There’re lots more things about December which you probably know already. It’s an exciting month, with building expectations of Christmas. Whether December is your birth month or not, it’s a month to enjoy and celebrate each day simply because God has given it to you.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let’s rejoice and be glad in it.
