Formula for Success

“My tongue is the pen of a ready writer” (Psalm 45:1). Writing–the thing I love best, not to be compared with the people I love best, much more than writing, but it is the occupation, the activity, the fire that burns within. So my pen is certainly ready and so are the words for my pen to write. Question is, how do I make my writing a success? The answer is, I don’t. If it succeeds, it is the Lord’s doing, not mine.

I turn to an ancient Book but amazingly, one that speaks to the problems, hopes, and ambitions of people today. And I read the formula for success: “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass (Psalm 37:3-5).

So it is my part to pray and trust, commit what I write to the Lord and trust some more. And maybe I don’t look on success like the Lord does. He sees and knows far more than I could ever see or know. My part is to keep writing and to keep believing.

For me, the Bible, written so long ago, is the road map for today. It is there, God’s way  to success but it’s up to us to read, believe, and follow. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).

Just as we all go thru the days doing what we do best and letting our light shine for our creator, we will all hopefully be blessed when it is revealed the lives we touched and influenced.
