Wow! Whose Dream Was That?

Wow! Whose Dream Was That?

I dreamed last night that I was singing, My Heart Cries for You. Does anybody remember that beautiful old song? Click on the title to hear Connie Francis sing it. What a voice! Connie’s, I mean, not mine. It was almost like a violin, with a sob in it. Other people sang it too, including Guy Mitchell. Does anybody recall him? But, Connie Francis is the talented gal who sings it here.

However, in my dream, I was singing it! Boy! Could I sing! And I woke up wishing I could really sing like that. But, alas! It was only a dream.

Some dreams are like mine–a dream we have while sleeping. Other dreams are those hopes, wishes, desires that we hold deep in our hearts, that flame that keeps us going. They are the goals we need to pursue, to reach for, to try for with everything within us.

Now, it would be nice if I could really sing well. Not just well, but outstandingly well like…well, like Connie Francis. I doubt that I can ever attain such greatness and, although it would be nice, it isn’t the fondest desire of my heart. When Lola and I were in college, we joked about one day singing at night clubs–only the very upscale, posh, respectable ones, you understand. I would be seated at a black grand piano and she, dressed in a sequiny dress, would lean on the piano and we would sing. That was not a dream, it was just an outlandish thing we’d giggle about.

But, you do have a dream! You’re not sure what it is? You had one so long ago you can’t remember it? Well, start digging! Dig down into your heart and remember what it was to have that burning desire that warmed your days and lit up your nights. Dust it off, shine it up, and take a good, long look. Put it back on the shelf of your imagination and work toward it. We all have a load that we carry and that dream will help lighten your load. But, whatever you do, don’t let that spark of a dream die. It will put a spring in your step. It will light up your life.
