What Is Creeping Through the Shadows?

What Is Creeping Through the Shadows?

Something is creeping through the shadows and peering around the corners. There’s a scratching at the window. Is it only a swaying tree branch brushed by a wayward wind? Or, is it something more sinister? Are your doors locked? Is the fireplace flickering? Do you have a good supply of hot chocolate and cozy mysteries close at hand?

If I were hunting for a couple of cozies that are particularly perfect for a dark autumn evening, I’d choose Best Left Buried and By the Fright of the Silvery Moon. Why? A glance at the covers will get you in the mood for what happens when you turn to the first page of either book.

Darcy Campbell had no idea of her family’s past until a strange package was found lodged in the side of a hand-dug, abandoned well. Opening that package was like opening Pandora’s box. All sorts of mystifying and hidden secrets were brought into the light of day. Was that a good thing? Or, would it have been Best Left Buried?

Ned McNeil usually didn’t mind living alone in the Victorian house she had inherited from her uncle. Alone, that is, except for a small gray cat called Penny. But, there was no denying that the old home place in which she lived, the place called Granger Mansion, held some secrets of its own. After all, more than one family had lived in it through the years. She had no idea of the lengths some people would go to delve into an ancient story and uncover a legend. Strange things happened at Granger Mansion By the Fright of the Silvery Moon.

When the nights grow long and bare, dead boughs of trees sway in a fitful wind; when the moon soars overhead, casting silvery light and long shadows across the grass, make sure you are prepared. Stoke the fire, brew that coffee, grab a  mystery, and enjoy a good case of the cozy shivers.
