That Warm Feeling Is Going Around

That Warm Feeling Is Going Around

“Something smells good,” I said, coming in Robbie’s front door. And indeed, it did. Warm food, friendly chatter, friends eating and visiting together–that was yesterday’s monthly luncheon.

We were all mindful that it was the National Day of Prayer. Some of our group were attending special services but we were very much aware of the importance of prayer and that entered into our conversation as we sat around the table.

The day had been sunny but cold! A strong wind, probably from some iceberg somewhere, did its best to quench any springlike feeling. But the sun shone brightly and the goldfinches in the back yard looked like flying bits of butter. Robbie has a green thumb, just as Fran does. Her yard blooms in many colors and varieties of flowers. After we ate, we walked through part of it, admiring the grape arbor with swing inside, the Iris and the peonies and the vining clematis.

Food and conversation inside, flowers and birds outside, a delightful luncheon. Fran, in South Carolina, had a luncheon yesterday too. So, although we were miles apart, we were together in thought and spirit. That’s the nice thing about friendship. It doesn’t separate friends; it binds us together.

    • Thanks so much for writing, Fran. I’m glad your group is growing. We miss you but you started a good thing here in NWA and introduced me to a lot of good friends.
