Thursday Rambles Over a Cup of Coffee

Thursday Rambles Over a Cup of Coffee

Pour a cup of coffee, sit down with me this morning, and let’s ramble through some of the deeper points of life. Don’t you love it when you hear someone wax philosophical? I do. I like to follow their line of thinking. Sometimes it’s quite comforting to hear an honest assessment of life which boils down to we’re all still learning. There’s a certain radio personality I sometimes listen to who at times lapses into his viewpoint of God and man and what makes us tick. It’s kind of fun to listen.

Life itself is a mystery. This is the time of year when Queen Anne’s Lace and Shasta lilies are blooming.
Bees and butterflies love these early blossoms. I like to see them beside the road. Asphalt may cover a lot of the territory which birds and insects once called their own, but some wild patches still brighten the roadsides.

At Manos Meadows, my home for more than thirty years, we had a meadow behind our house. I loved watching the different wildflowers bloom during different seasons of the year. The pasture was very like a calendar…a calendar of nature, marking the months by the kind of flowers that bloomed.

This morning’s rambles have taken me far afield, from the deep questions of life to enjoying the world around me. It’s hard to realize that May is nearing a close and then summer will begin in earnest. A good philosophy of life to live by is to just enjoy each day as it comesĀ and be thankful; be sure to be thankful. Beauty surrounds us. Sometimes, we have to look for it, but it’s there.
